OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) - Less than a week after Washington House Democrats unveiled their state budget plan, Senate Republicans will release their own proposal.

The caucus announced Monday night that the package will be revealed on Tuesday. Lawmakers are in the midst of a 105-day legislative session that is scheduled to end April 26. They need to write a new two-year operating budget for the state under the shadow of a court-ordered requirement to put additional money toward the state’s education system.

House Democrats included a new capital gains tax as part of their plan, but Senate Republicans have said new taxes should not be part of the solution.
