LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - The University of Wyoming is delaying the second phase of planned upgrades to its Arena-Auditorium because the estimated costs came in $3.5 million over budget.

The first phase - redesigning the court and seating for Wyoming basketball games - was completed last fall at a cost of $13 million.

That left the university with $17 million for the second phase, which includes renovations to the main concourses, restrooms and fire suppression as well as an east side entrance to the arena. Work was to begin this month.

Athletics director Tom Burnam tells the Wyoming Tribune Eagle (https://bit.ly/1NDTwyF ) that those upgrades would cost $20.5 million and the university has decided to redesign the upgrades, with a focus on the interior work, rather than raise additional money. Work wouldn’t be able to begin until next spring.
