HOUMA, La. (AP) - Parish officials say bids for the Wauban drainage improvement project in Schriever (SHREE’-VUR) came in roughly $50,000 under budget.

The Courier reports (https://bit.ly/1C19Roz ) the Terrebonne Parish Council is expected to approve a $230,000 apparent low bid on April 6.

Capital Projects Administrator Jeanne Bray says a contractor won’t be named until then.

Bray said the timeline for the project will be set following contract approval.

The purpose of the project is to improve drainage in the neighborhoods around Wauban Avenue in Schriever. Roughly 300 feet of ditch will be widened and undersized culverts will be replaced to alleviate flooding during heavy rains and hurricanes.
