STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) - A training officer with the Starkville Fire Department is the city’s new fire chief.

The board of aldermen on Monday night selected Charles Yarbrough to lead the city’s department.

According to local media reports, Yarbrough was among five people interviewed for the job.

Yarbrough fills the post left vacant with the retirement of Rodger Mann at the end of February.

Yarbrough begins the job immediately.



Aldermen voted 4-3 to appoint Yarbrough.
