SOUTH MILWAUKEE, Wis. (AP) - Authorities have declared the shooting death of a 68-year-old South Milwaukee woman as a homicide.

South Milwaukee police initially reported Scheherazade Mae Chadwick was killed last week in an accidental shooting, but they said Monday that she actually was the victim of a homicide.

Officers responded to a report of an accidental shooting at a home and found Chadwick’s body inside on Thursday morning.

Family members tell WITI-TV and WISN-TV that investigators believe someone broke in to her home early that morning, returned about two hours after the robbery and shot Chadwick.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting death is asked to call the South Milwaukee Police Department.

An investigation is ongoing.
