CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) - They came by the hundreds to an unofficial annual tribute to Selena on the 20th anniversary of her murder.

And as always, each sought Tuesday to approach the brilliance of the singing performances that typified the budding superstar’s performances as the “Queen of Tejano Music” before her death on the brink of her mainstream breakthrough.

Sylvia Dancer has organized the annual Gone But Not Forgotten Selena tribute and talent showcase, which is unaffiliated with Selena’s family.

Dancer told the Corpus Christie Caller-Times (https://bit.ly/1NBbM9Y) that Tuesday’s tribute at the Molina Veterans Park would be her last.

Selena Quintanilla-Perez was killed March 31, 1995, by Yolanda Saldivar, the president of her fan club. Saldivar is serving a life sentence.
