SALEM, Va. (AP) - Virginia highway officials say 15 new traffic cameras have been added on Interstate 77 to the 511 travel information system.

The Virginia Department of Transportation says nine more will be added in over the next few months.

The 511Virginia.org website provides real time information about road conditions and traffic congestion. The new cameras are located between the North Carolina state line and mile marker 14 in Carroll County. VDOT says they will help the agency monitor traffic and weather conditions, such as fog on Fancy Gap Mountain.

The cameras cost $40,000 each.
