MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (AP) - A police bomb squad has responded after a pressure cooker was found on a sidewalk near a Jewish elementary school in Miami Beach.

The Yeshiva Elementary School was put on lockdown and nearby streets closed Wednesday morning after the cooker was spotted. Police spokeswoman Det. Vivian Thayer says the bomb squad detonated the cooker and later determined it was empty. The all clear signal was given about 11:15 a.m.

Thayer says it’s unknown if the incident has any connection to the start Wednesday of the Boston Marathon bombing trial. The explosive devices used in that attack were made from pressure cookers.
