PLEASANTVILLE, N.J. (AP) - Robert M. McCormick III, a veteran newspaper executive who was publisher of The Press of Atlantic City for several years, has died. He was 76.

The newspaper (https://bit.ly/1KjPvkK) announced Wednesday that McCormick died on Monday, but a cause of death was not disclosed. He lived in Hendersonville, North Carolina.

McCormick was publisher of The Press and chief operating officer of the South Jersey Publishing Co. from April 1994 to his retirement in December of 2000.

A graduate of Georgetown University in Washington, McCormick worked at the Washington Post for 20 years, rising to executive vice president of advertising. He also spent 11 years as CEO of the San Francisco Newspaper Agency, which included The Chronicle and The Examiner, before joining The Press.
