SALEM, Ore. (AP) - Gov. Kate Brown has asked the state Senate to approve her predecessor’s nominee to head the Oregon Health Authority.

The Senate is scheduled to vote Thursday on confirming Lynne Saxton as head of the agency, which oversees the Medicaid program, public health, addiction treatment, the state hospital and more.

Saxton was appointed late last year by Gov. John Kitzhaber. The Senate halted action on Kitzhaber’s nominees when he resigned two weeks ago. Brown is reviewing more than three dozen.

Saxton was previously executive director of a social services organization for youth. She’s headed the Health Authority as its interim director since January.

Brown also requested confirmation of John Swetnam, a Kitzhaber appointee to the Psychiatric Security Review Board.
