GILLETTE, Wyo. (AP) - A judge in Campbell County has sentenced a man to seven to 10 years in prison for his role in the killing of a cow with stolen guns.

The sentence imposed on Randy W. Ayres will be served consecutively to a past federal sentence for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

District Judge John R. Perry said he would reconsider parts of the sentence if the 36-year-old Ayres improves himself while in prison.

The Gillette News Record reports (https://bit.ly/1aLTrL4 ) that Ayres was charged with aggravated burglary, accessory after the fact and wrongful taking or disposing of property.

Authorities say that after stealing the guns and other property last September, Ayres and another man shot a cow and partially dismembered it.
