PASCAGOULA, Miss. (AP) - Pascagoula firefighters found a body in the rubble of a house fire.

Police spokesman Shannon Massey tells The Sun Herald (https://bit.ly/1GR9pxV ) the body was found Tuesday in the two-story home’s upstairs bedroom.

Massey says firefighters began going through the building after putting out the fire.

Firefighters were able to get into the house about 6:30 a.m. and found the body of a dog on the first floor.

Family arrived at the home and told police the man, in his 50s, slept in an upstairs bedroom.

Massey says the man’s name will be released when officials make a positive identification.
