THIBODAUX, La. (AP) - Lafourche Parish officials say nearly half of the new 33,305 trash bins in Lockport, Golden Meadow and unincorporated parts of the parish have been distributed and all should be dropped off by the end of the month.

Jerome Danos, Department of Solid Waste manager, tells The Daily Comet (https://bit.ly/17Q92Ym ) distribution that began the week of Mardi Gras, but some residents have called the parish about not receiving the 95-gallon bins at the same time as their neighbors.

Danos says those residents will receive the bins after the initial distribution process is complete.

The parish is also preparing for its annual hazardous waste material collection on March 14.

Danos said this is a chance for residents to get rid of materials that cannot be included in regular garbage pickup.
