PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Joseph F. Azrack, Gov. Gina Raimondo’s nominee to head the I-195 Redevelopment District Commission, has declined to say whether a new minor league baseball stadium could be included in the area.

Meeting Tuesday with the Senate Commerce Committee, he said the former downtown Providence highway land could include homes and offices, bike paths and parks and public and private investment.

The Providence Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1zXKCDQ ) that Azrack declined to say whether a new minor league baseball stadium also could be included. Azrack, a former real estate investment manager, said physical and economic impact studies are needed.

The new owners of the Pawtucket Red Sox plan to build a new stadium for the Triple-A franchise in Providence.

The Commerce Committee unanimously recommended that Azrack be confirmed as 195 Commission executive director.
