GARLAND, Texas (AP) - An elderly husband and wife have been found shot to death at a Dallas-area assisted living facility where she resided.

Garland police say the deaths of 81-year-old Charlene Smith and 85-year-old Arthur Smith appear to be a murder-suicide.

Police on Tuesday responded to Winters Park Assisted Living and Memory Care on a report of someone bleeding.

Police and paramedics located the couple dead on the floor of her room. Officer Joe Harn says the wife lived in the memory care unit of the facility.

Investigators say Arthur Smith apparently shot his wife, then turned the gun on himself. Authorities didn’t immediately release information about a possible motive for the killings.
