LEESVILLE, La. (AP) - Rosepine Police Chief James Dennis Parrot has pleaded not guilty to charges of felony malfeasance, stalking and sexual misconduct.

The American Press reports (https://bit.ly/1eOXZNb ) Parrot, arrested in August by state police, allegedly used police equipment to stalk his ex-wife and a male friend and take photos of them. Additionally, he’s accused of engaging in sexual activity with two people in custody.

He was indicted in December.

Judges with 30th Judicial District Court recused themselves, citing a conflict of interest. Judge H. Ward Fontenot was appointed to try the case. On Tuesday, he set the pretrial hearing for May 6 and the jury trial for May 18.

Parrot is represented by Leesville lawyer Elvin Fontenot. The state Attorney General’s Office is trying the case.

Parrott was re-elected without opposition in August.
