SAN ANTONIO (AP) - San Antonio police say they have arrested a 24-year-old man suspected of using a dumbbell to beat to death a 73-year-old man.

Police spokesman Sgt. Javier Salazar says officers arrested the man Tuesday in the November death of Guillermo Ybarra.

Salazar says police arrived at an apartment after receiving a call about a foul odor. He says Ybarra could have been dead at least 10 days prior to when officers found him dead with a head injury.

Salazar says investigators learned the suspect and Ybarra likely had met the day Ybarra was killed.

A police report says there weren’t any signs of forced entry at the apartment. Officers found Ybarra’s car and his wallet were missing. Salazar says police are unsure if robbery was a motive in Ybarra’s death.
