HUMPHREY, Ark. (AP) - The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission says a Sheridan man has been fined $2,500 for shooting and wounding a bald eagle.

The commission says Garrett Davis admitted shooting the eagle at the Bayou Meto Wildlife Management Area.

The eagle was shot in the wing and suffered a fractured bone. The eagle has recovered and is to be released Saturday morning on the wildlife management area near Stuttgart.

Commission nongame migratory bird coordinator Karen Rowe says the eagle was recovered from the water by two duck hunters after it was shot. The two hunters wrapped it in a hunting coat and called wildlife officers to meet them at a boat ramp.
