NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The trial has begun for a Middle Tennessee bar owner charged with killing country singer-songwriter Wayne Mills.

The Tennessean reports (https://tnne.ws/1aLoJSn) prosecutors and defense attorneys both agree that bar owner Chris Ferrell shot the musician in 2013, but they described different events leading up to the death. Ferrell, who is charged with second-degree murder, says he shot Mills in self-defense.

The shooting happened after the two got into an argument at Ferrell’s Pit and Barrel bar in downtown Nashville.

An autopsy found that Mills was shot in the back of the head.
