VERNON, Vt. (AP) - Voters in Vernon have approved spending money to move the town preschool.

The vote was part of a larger Town Meeting Day debate Tuesday about the town’s overall $2.06 million budget.

The Brattleboro Reformer reports (https://bit.ly/1aLplrh ) that the preschool program will be moved from the basement of the town office to a larger vacant classroom at Vernon Elementary School.

Recreation Director Seth Deyo, who oversees the program, said the move was prompted by demand from families.

The newspaper reported that voters approved a budget amendment to add another $60,200 to the facility rental fee that the town recreation department pays to the elementary school.
