NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - A northern New Jersey man who was charged with sex assault and child endangerment last year is now accused of possessing child pornography.

Federal prosecutors said Wednesday that the new charge was filed after authorities found hundreds of images and several videos depicting child sex abuse on computers and other electronic devices in Gregory Aker’s Linden home.

He could face up to 10 years in prison if convicted on the child porn charge, and is scheduled to make a court appearance on the charge March 12. Prosecutors say Aker remains in custody and has not yet retained a lawyer.

Prosecutors say the 45-year-old Aker was a leader in a boys youth organization and a religious education teacher with his church.
