WASHINGTON (AP) - Rohit Mahajan hadn’t planned on going to the National Air and Space Museum when he hopped on a city bus with his 5-year-old son Hari, but there they found themselves Thursday, reading about space travel as heavy snow fell outside of the museum’s wall of windows.

The 42-year-old Mahajan found out the National Museum of American History and the Air and Space museum, his son’s favorite, were open. The two rode the bus from their home in Columbia Heights with no other plans than to get out of the house and stay entertained.

Sisters Elspeth and Kylista Geiger were visiting from Ann Arbor, Michigan, and the museum was on their tour. They said they didn’t mind the snow because it was still warmer than home.
