RIVERTON, Wyo. (AP) - A judge in Fremont County has sentenced a man to 50 to 60 years in prison for killing another man with a hammer.

George Jr. Littlethunder, of Arapaho, had pleaded guilty earlier to second-degree murder.

Before his sentencing Thursday, the 30-year-old Littlethunder apologized but said he doesn’t remember killing Richard Longsoldier, of Riverton, last year.

The Riverton Ranger reports (https://bit.ly/1AMsHiD ) that Littlethunder’s attorney cited parental negligence and an alcohol addiction as factors in the case and asked for a sentence of 20 to 25 years.

But District Court Judge Norman E. Young took little time to reach a sentencing decision after hearing arguments from both sides, noting the horrific nature of the crime.
