CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Authorities in Charleston say thieves made off with more than $1 million in jewelry from a downtown store.

A police report made available to local media outlets says a list of the items taken from Demetre Jewelers includes 11 Rolex watches worth $10,000 each and $500,000 worth of merchandise that hasn’t yet been inventoried. The estimate was released Thursday.

According to police, the store manager was in the back on Wednesday when he heard someone enter the store. The manager walked toward the front and saw two masked men, one with a gun and the other with a hammer.

The report said the gunman ordered the manager to get on the floor and threatened to shoot him in the head while the man with the hammer smashed a display case.
