KINGMAN, Ariz. (AP) - A northwestern Arizona county plans to offer rewards for tips that lead to arrests and convictions of people responsible for illegal dumping.

The Mohave County Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 Monday to provide $500 rewards for tips but capped the amount to be given each year at $50,000.

The Sheriff’s Department’s Silent Witness program will administer the rewards program.

Implementation will begin after the board revises the county’s ordinance against illegal dumping to strengthen its prosecution provisions.
