BANGOR, Maine (AP) - A Maine man charged with using Facebook to lure a teenager to her death will not testify on his own behalf in his trial.

WABI-TV reports 21-year-old Kyle Dube (DOO’-bee) declined to testify in court on Thursday. Defense attorneys and prosecutors have presented their cases in the trial and will end with closing statements Friday. The case then goes to the jury.

Dube of Orono, is on trial for the 2013 kidnapping and murder of high school sophomore Nichole Cable, of Glenburn. Police have said Dube intended to stage a kidnapping of Nichole so he could find her and look like a hero. She died of asphyxiation.

The trial began Feb. 23. Prosecutors say DNA evidence links Dube to Nichole’s disappearance, but his attorneys say someone else committed the crimes.
