CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - A Democratic senator is preparing an alternative tax plan that would generate at least as much revenue as Gov. Brian Sandoval’s proposal.

Sen. Pat Spearman discussed her plan and its guiding principles during a Thursday Senate Revenue Committee meeting, but said the final details were still up in the air. She said she hoped to have bills ready for review in seven to 10 days.

The Las Vegas Democrat said she wants to do away with the modified business tax and is considering other options to fill the gap, including a corporate income tax.

Republican Sen. Michael Roberson raised concerns that the plan was emerging too late in the session. He’s said he wants to have a tax plan passed out of the Senate by the end of March.
