ELKINS, W.Va. (AP) - The Durbin and Greenbrier Valley Road is acquiring a 1926 steam locomotive from the North Carolina Transportation Museum.

Railroad president John Smith tells WBOY-TV (https://bit.ly/1BU1wt6 ) that the locomotive operated in West Virginia for nearly five decades on the Buffalo Creek and Gauley Railroad.

The railroad has reached an agreement to buy the locomotive from the museum. Smith says the railroad plans to restore the locomotive and hopes to return it to service.

The locomotive will be moved from North Carolina to Cass in the spring.
