STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) - A former Penn State student has pleaded guilty to breaking into the dormitory rooms of female students last fall and fondling them as they slept.

The Centre Daily Times (https://bit.ly/1zOSYfW ) reports 19-year-old Zhongyuan Shao (SHONG’-wan SHOH) pleaded guilty Tuesday in Centre County.

He had been scheduled for trial Thursday on charges of burglary, criminal trespass and indecent assault.

Campus police say Shao, who was also a student at the time, entered the rooms in the early morning hours of Oct. 11 and 12.

Defense attorney Lance Marshall declined comment on the plea.

Shao’s sentencing will be scheduled after he’s examined to determine whether he’ll be classified as a sexually violent predator.

District Attorney Stacy Parks Miller says, “Everyone deserves to feel safe in their own homes, and for students, their homes away from home …”
