ROCKPORT, Maine (AP) - An annual trade show for Maine’s seafood industry is getting underway with a focus on shellfish.

Thursday is the first day of the 40th Annual Maine Fishermen’s Forum. The event hills itself as the largest marine trade show north of Boston and it will last until Saturday. Thursday is the event’s “Shellfish Focus Day,” and it will include presentations about red tide, ocean acidification and clam farming. The rest of the event will include seminars about other issues facing the state’s seafood industry.

The forum is taking place at the Samoset Resort in Rockport, Maine, near the center of the state’s Midcoast region.
