MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. (AP) - Officials say a 35-year-old man has died following a house fire in western Michigan.

The Muskegon Chronicle reports (https://bit.ly/1M9dfne ) Terrance Evans was the only person inside the home that was divided into three apartments when the fire started early Thursday in Muskegon Heights.

Lakeysha Cage says Evans was her longtime boyfriend. She says he had seven children, none of whom where in the home at the time.

State police Fire Investigator Trever Slater says the fire is believed to have started in Evans’ kitchen. The cause is under investigation but the fire department says it doesn’t appear to be suspicious.
