NEW YORK (AP) - A passenger aboard a plane that skidded off the runway at LaGuardia says the evacuation was “as orderly as orderly can be.”

Mark Klafter, of Georgia, says Flight 1086 from Atlanta lost power soon after it hit the snow-covered ground Thursday.

He says flight attendants used portable bullhorns to tell passengers to remain seated and stay calm.

He says even as the plane was “bouncing” along and skidding no one was screaming. He called it “a surreal experience.”

Another passenger from Georgia, Malcolm Duckett, says he didn’t realize the plane was so close to the water until it stopped. He says the plane’s wing was going along a fence knocking it down.

The plane’s nose came close to the edge of an icy bay.
