PHOENIX (AP) - A registered sex offender from the Navajo Nation has been sentenced to life in prison on convictions for abusive sexual contact with a child under age 12 and committing an offense while registered as a sex offender.

U.S. District Judge Stephen P. Logan sentenced 64-year-old Roy Red Joey of Dilkon, Arizona, on Tuesday in Phoenix.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for Arizona said trial evidence showed that Joey sexually abused a 9-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy during separate incidents within the Navajo Nation.
