SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Kelsee Smith scored the game’s first eight points and Shallowater cruised past Jarrell for a 63-50 victory Thursday in the Class 3A girls’ state semifinals.

Smith finshed with 15 points for Shallowater (32-1). Hanna Almsted scored 10 points for Shallowater, which led by 15 at halftime and never trailed.

Breanna Wright scored 31 for Jarrell (34-4) which also got 14 points and 15 rebounds from Julie Tucker. Wright was 17 of 22 on free throws.

Shallowater won the Class 2A state championship in 2004. Jarrell played in its first state tournament.
