CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say a man wanted in connection with a shooting death at an apartment complex has been arrested in Raleigh.

A statement from police says 27-year-old Brandon Lamar Medlin was arrested during a traffic stop by the Raleigh Police Department on Wednesday. Medlin was wanted there on an outstanding warrant for assault.

Officers responding to a call on Sunday found a man lying in the parking lot suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The victim, 27-year-old Justin Reid, was transported to Carolinas Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities say Medlin was awaiting extradition back to Charlotte Thursday afternoon. It’s not known if he has an attorney.
