MACON, Ga. (AP) - Juniors Kelsie Towns and Rasheka Simmons combined for 37 points to lead Taylor County to a 67-54 win over Turner County in the Georgia High School Association’s Class A girls’ championship game at the Macon Coliseum.

Towns had 19 points Thursday, which included five 3-pointers, and 10 rebounds. Simmons scored 19 points, with four assists and five steals. Destiny Mathis scored 11 for the Taylor County Vikings.

Taylor County finished 31-0 and won the school’s 11th state championship. It was a dramatic turnaround for a team that lost a combined 27 games over the previous two seasons.

Turner County (28-3) got 28 points and 16 rebounds from Mylashia Yancey. Zakiyah Office scored 10 for the Rebels.

The teams were tied 14-14 after one period when Taylor County went on a 13-1 run. The Vikings continued to pour it on and led 41-24 at halftime.
