ALTOONA, Pa. (AP) - A central Pennsylvania police chief says she’s asked state troopers to investigate allegations that three of her officers used excessive force when arresting someone last month.

Altoona police Chief Janice Freehling isn’t naming the officers nor is she providing information about the arrest in question.

But she tells the Altoona Mirror (https://bit.ly/1GqxVIV ) that the officers will remain on desk duty until the investigation is complete.

The police department is also conducting its own internal investigation.
