PHOENIX (AP) - A bicyclist is dead after a crash with a car north of downtown Phoenix.

Phoenix police say the crash occurred about 1:30 p.m. Friday near Central Avenue and Thomas Road.

Paramedics took one adult patient to a hospital with serious injuries.

Police say the bicyclist is a 22-year-old man, but his name hasn’t been released.

He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police also didn’t identify the 20-year-old driver of the car.

Officers aren’t treating it as a criminal investigation and don’t believe impairment was involved.

Police say they will be examining video evidence and witness testimony in order to determine what happened in the fatal crash.
