GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) - Authorities in Grants Pass say a woman has been accused of breaking into the county animal shelter and stealing her own dog.

The Daily Courier reports (https://bit.ly/1BfwoB7) two pit bull mixes were impounded in December, one reported running loose, the other at a squatter’s house.

An official at the shelter says neither was being cared for, so they have been rehabilitated for adoption.

Surveillance video from Feb. 18 shows two women cutting several padlocks at the shelter.

This week, police arrested 41-year-old Jennifer Dompier of Merlin in the course of checking out a report someone was using a screwdriver to start a pickup truck.

Officers said she had a dog, named Spud, that was taken from the shelter.

The second woman hasn’t been arrested.
