FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) - The Larimer County Sheriff’s Department has taken down its website after it was breached twice this week by hackers.

The Fort Collins Coloradoan reported Friday (https://tinyurl.com/kvjg6xq ) officials are looking for ways to make the website more secure. They haven’t set a date for restoring it.

The site was breached Monday night and Thursday morning. It’s unclear whether the attacks were related.

On one occasion, users saw a “website down” message. On another, two news releases on the site were replaced with bogus headlines.

Sheriff’s spokesman David Moore said the department is working with county technology experts.
