LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - A woman has been accused of child abuse involving her 11-month-old grandson in Las Cruces.

Authorities say 58-year-old Margaret Edmond has been indicted by a grand jury.

They say Edmond previously lived with her son, grandson and the child’s mother.

Las Cruces police say the home had video cameras in the living room, back porch and bedrooms.

In one of the recordings, police say Margaret Edmond is seen allegedly slapping the baby on the hand repeatedly and then jabbing him in the face when he attempts to untuck a blanket in his crib.

Edmond’s son was indicted in January on suspicion of kidnapping, child abuse and aggravated battery against a household member.

Authorities say the man’s girlfriend reported that he had held her against her will and threatened her life.
