COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - A man found dead outside a Colorado Springs home where a fire was reported has been identified as 80-year-old Peter Spellman.

The Colorado Springs Gazette reported Friday (https://tinyurl.com/l5bap95 ) the El Paso County Coroner’s Office released Spellman’s name. His body was found Thursday as crews responded to the fire.

Investigators have said Spellman wasn’t killed by the fire but haven’t released the cause of death. An autopsy was planned.

Authorities say a man called police Thursday to say a house containing propane bombs was on fire, and that the man was going to leave the house and kill himself.

Police said they cannot yet say whether Spellman was the caller.

Several nearby homes were evacuated during the investigation but the residents have been allowed to return.
