ELIZABETHTOWN, N.Y. (AP) - A 21-year-old man has been sentenced to 35 years in state prison for a crash in the Adirondacks that killed a couple and injured their daughter as he was fleeing police.

Local media report Trevor Sisto of Fort Covington was sentenced Thursday in Essex County Court, where he had pleaded guilty in January to three counts of first-degree assault and other charges in a deal with prosecutors.

Police said Sisto’s pickup truck was being chased last July by police who had gotten reports of a reckless driver when he collided with a car in Ray Brook, about 115 miles north of Albany.

The wreck killed 42-year-old James Barney and his 38-year-old wife, Kim. They lived in Potsdam. Their 11-year-old daughter, Emily Colby, was seriously injured.
