DALLAS (AP) - Singer Meat Loaf is set to return to his Dallas high school when he’s honored as a member of this year’s class of distinguished alumni.

The Dallas Morning News (https://bit.ly/1aPYdra ) reports the 67-year-old Grammy-winning musician, Broadway star and actor will be among alumni honored Friday at Thomas Jefferson High School. He’s a 1965 graduate from the school.

Meat Loaf, whose birth name is Marvin Aday, is a Dallas native. His father was a Dallas police officer, his mother was a school teacher.

Meat Loaf, who left Dallas two years after graduating from high school, starred in “Hair” on Broadway and appeared in the stage and screen productions of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.” His 1977 album “Bat Out of Hell” has sold 43 million copies.

He now lives in Austin.
