EAGLE, Colo. (AP) - Three skiers escaped serious injury when they triggered an avalanche near Pitkin Creek on Thursday.

The Eagle County Sheriff’s Office says one man was trapped and had a broken leg.

The man was picked up by a helicopter and flown to an ambulance to be taken to the hospital.

The Colorado Avalanche Information Center says the back country avalanche danger in Eagle County is considerable. That means that there are dangerous avalanche conditions and that people who venture into the backcountry need to be careful.
