ONAMIA, Minn. (AP) - Authorities are investigating after a St. Cloud man was found shot to death in a parked vehicle near a reservation in Mille Lacs County.

The Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe Tribal Police Department says 39-year-old Jason Carl Stoltz died from a gunshot wound to the chest. His body was discovered Monday night in the Bug Hills area of Onamia, a small city about 40 miles away from Brainerd.

Police say it’s unclear whether the shooting was random or targeted. No suspects were in custody as of early Friday morning.

The Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are assisting tribal police with the investigation.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting death is asked to call the department.
