MONTCLAIR, N.J. (AP) - Students unleashed a flurry of online protests in 140 characters or less when a New Jersey college decided to stay open during a major snowstorm.

The students did not see the logic in Montclair State University’s decision.

School spokeswoman Suzanne Bronski tells NJ.com (https://bit.ly/1BVPAHy ) approximately 1,000 classes were scheduled Thursday and approximately 5,000 resident students were already on campus.

Bronski says mass transit was running and campus parking lots and roadways were adequately cleared.

Most online posters disagreed with those assessments.
