DICKSON CITY, Pa. (AP) - Vice President Joe Biden, a Scranton native, is scheduled to return to the area to give a St. Patrick’s Day speech.

James J. Haggerty Jr., president of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick of Lackawanna County, says Biden has accepted the group’s invitation to address its annual dinner on March 17.

The dinner will be held in Dickson City, near Scranton.

The Times-Tribune of Scranton (https://bit.ly/1MiyTrf ) says Haggerty made the announcement Friday night.

Biden spent his early childhood in Scranton before moving with his family to Delaware. He has returned to the Scranton area several times as vice president.
