BRIGHTON, Colo. (AP) - A Longmont man accused of hitting a Brighton police officer and three patrol cars while fleeing in his vehicle has been arrested.

Police say Mark Molstad was arrested Saturday by a SWAT team who fired at him with rubber, non-lethal ammunition after the man again attempted to escape.

According to the Boulder Daily Camera (https://tinyurl.com/pwlvp4c ), Molstad is facing charges of first-degree assault of a police officer, criminal mischief, vehicular eluding, reckless endangerment and domestic violence harassment

Police say the man hit an officer who was directing traffic at an intersection while the driver was pursuing his ex-wife.

Brighton officers chased the driver, but later called off the chase out of concern for public safety.
