SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - San Francisco Bay Area authorities are searching for an accused child-molester who escaped from a local hospital.
Santa Clara County sheriff’s Sgt. James Jensen says 40-year-old Johnell Carter escaped during a medical appointment Friday at a San Jose hospital.
Jensen tells the San Francisco Chronicle that Carter overcame a deputy to make his break from the hospital (https://bit.ly/1MkvKHb ). The deputy suffered an injured shoulder.
San Jose police and the California Highway Patrol joined sheriff’s officers in searching for the escapee.
Campbell police arrested Carter in March on five counts of child molestation. He’d been held at the Santa Clara County jail since then.
